TRAVEL TO INDIA
IN A NUTSHELL
This immense country had been one of my travel goals for a long time, but like many others, the thought of going to India as an independent traveler can be overwhelming, especially as a woman.
For the first time, I reached out to get help from a travel consultant, who create a 36-day Sacred India route. Parts of the circuit involved going solo, some with a private driver and others sharing the ride with another solo female traveler, a perfect balance.
With spirituality and soul searching in mind, the itinerary started in New Delhi and included Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, Solan for a short retreat in a Tibetan monastery, then McLeod Ganj, home of the Dali Llama before finally heading to Amritsar to see the Golden Temple the most revered Sikh’s holy site.
The last week of my month-long tour included a flight to explore the holy city of Varanasi and celebrate Holi the color festival before making a day trip to Agra to see the majestic Taj Mahal.
